Awakening

There comes a time in your life when things start to make sense. I mean really make sense on a level it has never done so before. Like the lights just turned on and now you can see. And what a glorious sight! The aching in your heart subsides. The tears diminish. And somewhere inside, somehow, you know it is all going to be alright. It may take a while but you know, without doubt, that things will change. Life will get betterer. You truly believe that you have the power to make it happen. And it will happen.

You know that you will never be all things for all people and you are content with this fact. You realise that you dont know everything and there is no shame in admitting it. This is how we keep growing. You learn that once you face a fear you really can beat it.

The time comes when you see that much of the way you view yourself and the world around you is a result of all the messages and opinions that have been ingrained into your psyche. You begin to sort through all the misconceptions you've been fed about how your life should be, how you should look and how much you should weigh, what you should wear and what you should drive and what you should do for a living. You start to open up to new possibilities and cherish many different points of view. You begin reassessing and redefining who you are and what you are really all about.

You learn that your gut feelings and instincts are usually right and you start to trust them a lot more. They are there for a reason.

You also stop working so hard at disregarding your feelings, smoothing things out and ignoring what you really need. You see that feelings of entitlement are perfectly OK and that it is only natural to want things and that sometimes you need to vocalise your needs.

You know that you deserve to be treated with love, kindness, sensitivity and respect and you make a promise to yourself to never settle for less. You allow only the people who truly cherish you to share your souls journey, but you also open yourself up to the possibility of something new. Hope should never be extinguished.

You learn to deal with the ego in its rawest form. You learn that negative feelings such as anger, envy and resentment must be understood and redirected or they start to take a toll on you and the world around you. You learn to admit when you are wrong and try to build bridges instead of walls. You also learn that sometimes you may talk a lot of crap and ramble a lot, but your heart is pure and you mean well. And you fully acknowledge that you havent worked it all out for yourself either.

And most of all, you learn that we are all connected. **
This is called awakening.

**note: I'll give the inspirational stuff a rest for a while now, lest I start to sound patronising or uninteresting. Filler fluff will return soon.
